Linear Motion & Force

Vectors & Scalars
  • Vectors have a direction and a magnitude
    • To add, or subtract vectors, we can use the pythagorean theorem
  • Scalars only have a magnitude
SUVAT
  • S - displacement
    • Speed is the scalar version of displacement.
  • U - initial velocity
  • V - final velocity
  • A - Acceleration
  • T - Time
  • The equations;
    • $v=\dfrac{s}{t}$
    • $v^2=u^2+2as$
    • $s=ut+\dfrac{1}{2}at^2$
    • $a=\dfrac{v-u}{t}$
    • $v=u+at$
